Natanael Cano had a major meltdown at the 2025 Baja Beach Fest this morning (Aug. 11) in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. The Mexican superstar fought on stage and ended his set with a controversial corrido.
Baja Beach Fest took place this past weekend with J Balvin, Don Omar, and Maluma as headliners. Other acts that performed included Young Miko, Arcángel, Tito Double P, Myke Towers, El Malilla, and Yeri Mua. Billed as “Natanael Cano & Amigos” on the lineup, the corridos tumbados pioneer was tasked with closing the festival this morning. Cano’s chaotic set ended up going viral online today for reasons other than his musical performance.
Many concert-goers at Baja Beach Fest recorded Natanael Cano getting into a fight onstage with his DJ. He reportedly blamed the DJ for the many technical difficulties during his set. They both came to blows before their entourage split them up. People within the entourage also took swings at each other. Cano later got the DJ’s laptop and smashed it into pieces in front of the crowd. Before getting back to performing, he proudly showed off a bit of blood on his knuckles from hitting the DJ.
Following the fight, Cano started to perform corridos, which have become criminalized in certain parts of Mexico. He closed his set with one of his corridos that was censored upon release. In 2023, his album Nata Montana briefly included the song “Cuerno Azulado” featuring Gabito Ballesteros. For reasons that Cano has never explained, a reference to Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán was removed from the LP. In a possible show of defiance, Cano decided to perform “Cuerno Azulado” before he was rushed off the stage.
Remezcla has reached out to Cano’s camp and the Baja Beach Fest team about the incident. Neither has replied with a comment.
Last month, Cano released his album Porque La Demora, which saw him eschew corridos for reggaeton. The LP includes his Afrobeats smash “Perlas Negras” with Ballesteros, which currently sits at No. 32 on Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart.
Update Aug. 11: A representative from Los CT, Cano’s label, responded about the incident. In a statement to Remezcla, they shared: “On behalf of Los CT, we wish to clarify that neither the staff nor the production team of Baja Beach Festival had any involvement in the incident that occurred last night during Natanael Cano’s performance.”
They did not, however, clarify the identities or affiliations of the various people on stage involved in the incident alongside Cano.
